Hungary’s most acclaimed conservatory, the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, has its own ensemble dedicated to contemporary music. Formally known as “The Contemporary Music Group of the Franz Liszt Academy, Budapest” this ensemble is more commonly referred to as the ZAK ensemble.

A vital and ardent ensemble, the ZAK members are students who have passed their basic studies in contemporary music performance. Now their eager towards new music and new ideas continues in the frames of this ensemble.

The group follows the tradition of the Academy in contemporary music – proudly representing the school that gave such respected composers to the world as Béla Bartók, Zoltán Kodály, György Ligeti and György Kurtág.
