Music and machines
New music and old machines – an intriguing combination.
How do the machines sound? Can you play on a machine? Can you use the sound of machines for making music? Perhaps as deliberate background noise for modern abrupt compositions?
Sct. Christopher Chamber Orchestra has a long history of performing in unusual spaces. Gravel pits, holes in the ground, and even in an air balloon. The orchestra's aim is to create unique experiences where space and music mutually reflects each other.
At this concert the orchestra moved into the Vilnius Museum of Energy and Technology, which is in fact the space of the first central electricity plant in Vilnius!
The programme included music from Lithuania and Belgium, and yes: the audience was invited to play along on the old turbines.
