Drama in the concert hall

Deep seriousness and odd humour met in this TM+ concert.

Alexandros Markeas' Insolent citizenship is a piece about the current political and economic crisis in Greece. At the other end of the scale Thomas Adès' Catch is about how to catch a clarinettist!

It is no coincidence that the two pieces were played side by side, for in this concert TM + experimented with music that includes drama and staging. In Markeas' new work shouts of protest was heard from the audience rows, and in Adès' quartet it was downright funny when one musician tried to hide from the other three.

The concert even included a third work - Alexandros Markeas' Trois Clins d'oeil Rythmes - where musicians were actors and moving around in the audience.

TM + presented several ways of introducing theatre into concert form in one evening – and after the premiere in Paris the concert went on tour with two concerts in the ancient homeland of drama... Greece.
